Growth By Design: A Renewed Commitment to Nonprofits in Challenging Times

At Growth By Design, we’ve always believed in the power of relationships. We know it is relationships that will help us create the future where we all thrive. We believe in standing up for what’s right, in fighting for the marginalized, and in creating space for everyone, especially those often overlooked by the system. Our commitment to equity has always been at the core of our work, and as we navigate an increasingly turbulent landscape, that commitment is deepening.
Nonprofits are facing uncertainty like never before. With the barrage of executive orders and actions from the current administration, we know many organizations are feeling the strain. In these times of turmoil, nonprofits need allies more than ever—partners who understand their struggles and can help guide them through difficult waters. This is where we come in.
If you know us at all, you know that we are passionate about supporting organizations that are dedicated to creating a more equitable world. Whether we’re working with large-scale institutions or smaller, emerging groups, we bring the same dedication to all of our partnerships. We stand firmly in our belief that nonprofits—whether led by or serving immigrant communities, BIPOC populations, or others in need—deserve to thrive.
That’s why, as part of our ongoing commitment to these organizations, we hand-select two to three emerging nonprofits each year to receive our services through a combination of reduced rates and pro bono. So far in 2025, we are proud to work with LifeGate Services and Equity Eats, and we plan to expand this initiative in the future, supporting 4-5 organizations each year through an application process that will open the opportunity to even more impactful groups.
But our work doesn’t end there. We continue to serve a diverse range of clients, from animal-focused organizations to community-based associations, always ensuring that we are meeting the unique needs of every group we partner with. Our core services are designed to support nonprofits in building strong, sustainable organizations: fundraising (especially capital campaigns), organizational development, strategic planning, board and leadership development, and grant writing.
As recent federal funding scares have made evident, fundraisers must focus on what truly makes the difference: building deep, meaningful relationships with donors. Our Fundraising for a New Era course, in partnership with Winona State University, will teach you firsthand that it’s not just about asking for money - it’s about creating lasting partnerships that allow organizations to fulfill their missions and continue serving their communities.
We are also excited about the future of The Growth Collective, which will continue to play a vital role in our growth as a company and in our capacity to support our clients. The Collective’s expertise will help us stay connected to the real needs on the ground, making sure we are always offering the most relevant and impactful support.
Finally, we will continue our work with the She Leads Conferences in Brainerd and Rochester. These events are more than just conferences; they are a celebration of women’s leadership, and we are committed to creating safe spaces where women can connect, learn, and lead with purpose.
